This family wanted to some family pictures in such a meaning place: their home. They recently bought their house and moved out here and they were establishing their new life out in the Sacramento area. It was such a delightful experience to spend some time with them and make some memories on their beautiful property. We had fun running around and they had fun showing me their favorite spots. By the end of it, I was playing hide-and-seek with the kids and it was great! They were so gracious and just enjoyable to be around.

I think most people shy away from wanting family pictures at their home. Let me give you a few reasons why it might actually be a good fit for you:

Your house doesn’t have to be perfect OR perfectly clean to have a beautiful home session. In fact, we don’t even have to go inside your home! This family just wanted pictures on their property-not even inside. That being said, the majority of people’s homes are not immaculate or up to date or their dream homes, but it is still YOUR home. We can work around the mess, the outdate kitchen, and we can close that laundry room door :-). It usually gets blurred out in the background anyway and isn’t the focus.
Your children are most comfortable at home. It eases the stress of warming up to someone new, they can show off their rooms and toys, and they have freedom to roam around as much as they want!
In-home sessions tend to be a little more casual than outdoor sessions. I try to keep outdoor sessions casual too, but usually in-home sessions involve jumping on beds, dancing, reading books,
It is a meaningful location. It is where memories are made and where people you love most reside. Your life isn’t perfect, but it is my job to show you that it is still beautiful and wonderful just how it is right now.
