It is always such a privilege to photograph families over and over and I especially love when I get to photograph a maternity session and then photograph their newborn session just a month or two later. I had a lovely time with this wonderful family. I knew I would though-I loved their maternity session. Coming into a family’s home is a little different, a little more relaxed, and can be a bit more comfortable for the kids. They were so excited to show me their rooms, the books they could read, their treasures. We went on a little walk while Mom fed baby and gave their dog a little exercise. The whole family doted on their new little baby and he was as sweet as could be.

I love the peace that is in the house when I walk in to a newborn session. Sure, it is usually a little loud or maybe chaotic with other siblings and parents may feel like things are a little more stressful or disheveled and they feel like they are just in survival mode, but there is an overlying feeling of peace that is beautiful and joyful. You know, that feeling where even though you are more tired than you have ever been before, you couldn’t have imagined how much love and hope this baby would bring. It is exhausting and incredible at the same time. I am grateful to capture this fleeting time.
